Would you fly to Italy for the weekend to stay in a cave with a hot tub?
I would.
I came across a bargain flight to Brindisi in Puglia, so immediately opened up Booking.com to see if I could find a decent hotel… and I came across this!
The property is called B&B La Sorgente, and as soon as I saw the hot tub, I was sold! The flights were booked, I’d made an itinerary, and we were spending the weekend in our cave.
We arrived too early to check in, so we grabbed a spot of lunch. I had a mushroom and truffle pizza, and Callum had a seafood linguine. I then made the fatal mistake of ordering a latte…

After lunch, we visited the Archaeology museum and the ruins of an old theatre, which now sit under a car park.

The rest of the afternoon was then free to soak up the hot tub of dreams…
The room itself was lovely, clean and modern and the host left us snacks and Prosecco to enjoy. There was a rainfall shower and his and hers sinks, but we were only interested in how many bubble settings the hot tub had!

After a relaxing afternoon and a few glasses of prosecco, we ventured to a local family restaurant for our dinner. I had Orecchiette and he had tortellini, followed by tiramisù. Everything was homemade and it was delicious.

On day 2, we travelled by train to Lecce, which took an hour. I was keen to try the famous Lecce coffee, which is espresso, almond syrup and ice, washed down with pistachio stuffed croissants.

We then did a self-curated walking tour, taking in all the archeological sites, including the amphitheatre, and a local house converted into a museum. There was of course also the actual museum of archeology.

After the train back to Brindisi, we spent another few hours relaxing in our hot tub cave, and dined on delicious pizza for dinner.

We returned home relaxed, and full of pasta and pizza. A weekend well spent.
