When Blink 182 announced a tour in 2023, I was ecstatic, but the ticket prices were extortionate. Somehow, I came across a stupidly cheap pair that claimed they had a restricted view. The caveat? They were for Copenhagen.
I immediately started looking around, and for the price of 2 decent seats in Manchester, we could book the ones I’d find, fly and stay for two nights in the capital of Denmark.
I was sold.
Armed with my decade old merch and passport, we commenced our travels, starting with a walking tour of the entire city. Sadly, I seemed to have forgotten I was no longer a teenager, and found doing the entire thing in a pair of converse would have consequences.
On our walking tour, we checked off most of the iconic monuments, including the mermaid, Kastellet, Rosenburg Castle, Gefion Fountain and, Nyhaven Caritas Well. My feet gave up on me shortly after that, and we fell into an Espresso House, a coffee shop chain in Scandinavia, which would start a love affair that will span the rest of my life.

For accommodation, it was nothing fancy. We used the Cabin City. It was cheap and cheerful, and gave me a lot of laughs when Callum decided to get onto the top bunk and proceeded to get stuck…

Day 2 started with coffee and cake at Buka, and a morning at the museum of Copenhagen. For lunch we had a traditional smorgasbord, including one with beef and egg, one ham and one salmon.

I spent the afternoon getting ready for the concert, and then we took the train to the venue. By now, my feet had blistered quite badly, so the walk was a struggle, but luckily the seats had a great view and the set was absolutely worth it. My emo heart was so full and happy. I finally got to scream “where are yewww” at the top of my lungs with thousands of other people and Tom Delonge.

Our final day in Copenhagen was spent at Tivolli gardens before our evening flight home. Tivolli was magical, and is actually where Walt Disney got his inspiration for Disneyland. We rode the oldest rollercoaster in the world, tried our luck at shooting some rats on the water ride, ate a lot of hot dogs and went upside down too many times to count.

By the time we’d gone on every ride, some multiple times, I was knackered, and very ready to sleep on the flight home to dream of my next trip!
